There are many types of headaches, and both children and adults can get them. It could be a result of school or home life. It could be that he/she is worried about his family’s finances because Dad has been laid off; or because he/she worries about a school exam. It could also be due to activities you don’t like hearing about. One such activity is the Choking Game, also known as the American Dream. It is also known by many other names.
What To Do?
There are some things you can do to help your child get rid of it. Send him/her to their bedroom or another place in the house that is cool and doesn’t have too much light. Encourage your child to not read while they are resting. Also, make sure that the TV is turned off. Your child may have been to a doctor for treatment. You can give it to your child, but make sure you follow the instructions about how many pills he/she should take and so on.
You can also use over-the-counter pills. Again, you should follow the doctor’s advice and not assume that the child will be better the more he/she takes. This can make matters worse. Acetaminophen is good for them. However, they should avoid aspirin. It is true that children do what they see, not what they are told to do. Do not complain about a headache or get grumpy if you have it.
Remember
You should not use a headache as an excuse to not do the chores on another day, unless it is extremely severe. If he/she sees that you are handling it well, they will be more inclined to do the same.
Even if your head hurts, you can talk to him/her for a few minutes. Talk about the day’s events or school. You can also give him/her something sweet, but don’t forget to give a hug or kiss.
