Is Menopause Keeping Me Awake At Night?

Life or melancholy: both may disrupt or completely banish your sleep. Menopause found me, and I found myself laying awake at night and mulling over things I could not do anything about. I’d listen to fascinating audiotapes. And if I happened to fall asleep while becoming smarter, good — I’d win in either case! But because audiotapes are a de facto thing of the past, I consulted with a teenager (my daughter) about what to do. She stated that I wanted an iPod.

    Let’s see…

I thanked her, and reminded her that my birthday was in two weeks. If you cruise over to iTunes, you’ll discover thousands of FREE podcasts which you can download and listen to while you are not sleeping. There are podcasts that will teach you a different language, make you laugh, teach you to relax, guide you in meditation, tell you bedtime stories, bathe you in lifestyle, show how things work, and a lot will bore you straight to a nice, deep sleep– no cost, and drug free!

What Should You Know Prior To Starting HRT?

Download your choices to your new iTunes accounts, sync your iPod, and stash it under your pillow, within easy reach. You’ll have it right there for if you need it. No fumbling around in the dark. You’ll either be engaged or you will be sleeping. Both are very very good.

    Do This!

Have a look at the TED talks, short talks from leading innovators. This American Life is exceptional. WNYC Radio Lab is diverse and fun. Terry Gross’ Fresh Aire series is terrific. Want to learn about the history of the Roman Empire? I thought not, but think about this: listening to it will put you to sleep almost instantly, so search for all those types of things.

Really, the variety is endless, and is infinitely customizable to fit your tastes. I’m sleeping well AND I’m brighter since I became a nighthawk podcast enthusiast. So, your restless and sleepless nights do not need to be unproductive. Podcasts are a great non-drug work-around into the out-of-control strain of the daytime. Check it out! Just one word of warning: NEVER, EVER, download the news!
