There’s no doubt that along with adhering to a nutritious diet, exercise will increase your energy, both immediately and over the long haul, which makes it easier to do everything from going to work to cleaning out the garage into running a 5K. It helps increase your strength and endurance, can help you feel and look good, busts stress, fights fatigue and depression, invigorates your mind and helps you lose weight – which by itself will provide you more energy. And it just makes you feel great.
Exercise releases endorphins, your body’s natural happy pill. The more endorphins you’ve coursing through your veins, the better you feel. That picture you’ve got in your head of being chained to the treadmill, drenched in sweat, pounding away for hours, merely to reap these rewards – throw it out. Long, grueling exercise only contributes to fatigue for most people. What takes you to the finish line in your daily life is regular, moderate exercise.
A brisk walk, a bike ride, an aerobics course can do the job – anything that gets your heart rate and breathing upward. Not quite there yet? Low-intensity activities work also. One study showed that routine, low-intensity exercise, for example leisurely walking, helped inactive adults who suffered from exhaustion increase their energy by 20 percent and reduce fatigue by 65 percent. For those who have a choice between not moving and moving – move!
Keep on moving
Experts are absolutely clear on this point: Get 30 to 60 minutes of exercise three to five days per week for improved energy and to help prevent cardiovascular disease, diabetes and certain forms of cancer. But in the event that you can’t reach that target for any reason, do something. Among the biggest mistakes people make is using an all-or-nothing mentality.
If you’re able to realistically only commit to exercising three days per week, bear in mind that three is far better than zero! Even in the event that you’re able to devote just 10 or 20 minutes to exercise, you will always feel better afterward. To lose weight and feel good getting excellent shut-eye is crucial. While quality sleep aids our bodies and our minds repair and recharge, chronic sleep deprivation generates persistent fatigue. Sweets mean more calories, and of course that sugar wreck we know is coming. Plus, when we are sleep deprived, our bodies continue to fat and calories. And, as if that weren’t bad enough, when we are tired, we are less inclined to work out. But you can reverse that downward spiral on its end and make a positive pattern instead. Get great, regular sleep and you will have more energy for each part of the day. You’ll have more energy to work out and be active. You’ll be more ready to tackle the strain.
